Christy
Askew

Planner
Christy completed a Master of Urban Planning and became
a member of the GRT staff in May of 2001. Ms. Askew has
experience as a planner at the neighborhood, municipal,
regional and state levels. Christy is currently steerheading
a hazard mitigation planning process in order to develop
a series of Action Plans that will act as a guide for
communites to implement mitigation measures to reduce
property damage and risks to humans as a result of natural
and man-made hazard events. Christy is coordinating hazard
mitigation efforts of thirteen East Texas counties and
approximately seventy (70) municipalities. She acts as
the firms liaison with the Forest Resources Institute,
of Stephen F. Austin State University, which is developing
a Geographic Information System and Hazard Mitigation
websites for each county.
Ms. Askew also administers HOME Program Homebuyer Assistance
activities for Traylor & Associates. This program
assists low-income individuals in obtaining down payment
assistance and/or closing costs towards the purchase of
a home. In this process, Christy works closely with realtors,
lenders, inspectors, title companies, low-income applicants,
the City and the State for each closing.
Ms. Askew is also involved in writing grant applications,
proposals, and environmental assessments for a wide
variety of programs.
Christys prior experience includes working with
the Growth Council of Oxford Hills, a non-profit community
development organization in South Paris, Maine, the
City of College Station, Texas Development Services
Department, the City of Woodcreek, Texas 2020
Vision Committee, the City of Amarillo, Texas
Planning and Transportation Departments, and the Texas
Healthcare Trustees Foundation.
